A rich decorated filigree antque carcass garnet link necklace, featuring twenty-one links of pure 14 karat gold. Each link features ten round-shaped faceted garnets, inlaid in ten small shells. In the center of the shells features a bigger diamond-shaped garnet. The gold is very skillfully handcrafted and gives the impression of lace or fine embroidery. Each link is linked with two small gold rings and the clasp is provided with a gold safety chain.
These kinds of necklaces – regional jewelry – were worn by women in some parts of the Netherlands around 1900, as part of a regional dress.
