This beautiful Dutch antique jet mourning pendant is featuring fine filigree and cannetille work. The gold on top is decorated with the so called 'spiders' and beautifully adorned with five small faceted garnets. The gold bottom of this pendant has an open-worked 14 karat gold filigree rosette and globule. Such beautiful jewelry were worn by more distinguished women in New- and Sint Joosland.
In some regions in The Netherlands these bells were worn in mourning as headdress accessories.The bells were hooked into a loop in the bottom of the hat and hang along the cheeks in the front strip of the corned hat.
The length of the pendant is 5.5 cm, width 1.1 cm and weighs 5 grams.
