Elegant and lovely Victorian agate cameo brooch, featuring a white carved 16th century lady. The cameo is set in a 9 karat gold frame and adorned with 33 gorgeous seed pearls. The agate gemstone is clamped in the metal frame and it has a curly pattern and open-worked structure. 
 
The brooch can be worn in different ways, for example on the chest or on the front of the collar. As shown in the picture.
 
Fun fact - Cameo is an ancient jewelry technique which has a revival of popularity in Early Victorian Era, 1830-1848. The classic representations were carved onto a cameo stone were both scenes of Roman or Greek mythology or portraits of rulers or important dignitaries. Agate portrait cameos, in history, were often gifts from royalty to their subjects. These cameos were often more than 2000 years old!
