Magnificent antique seven-strand red coral beaded necklace. This necklace is featuring a gorgeous round clasp made of 14 karat yellow gold and is beautifully adorned with filigree and cannetille work. The clasp has a scalloped border and an open-worked surface, decorated with the so called 'spiders', little flowers, twisted and rolled filigree. The filigree is very skillfully handcrafted and gives the impression of lace or fine embroidery.
 
These kinds of necklaces – regional jewelry – were worn by women in some parts of the Netherlands as part of the regional dress.
 
The gold has the Dutch purity hallmark.
