This elegant and lovely antique 14 karat yellow gold black jet mourning pendant featuring fine filigree. At the top is decorated with filigree, the so-called 'spiders'. At the bottom featuring a 14 karat gold filigree rosette and a globule. The stone is beautifully made of faceted black jet.
The length is 5.3 centimeters included eyelet, width 1.0 centimeters and weighs 5.66 grams.
Such beautiful jewelry was worn by more distinguished women in The Netherlands. In some regions these jewelry were worn in mourning as headdress accessories, in Dutch called ‘rouwklokken’, and were hooked into a loop in the bottom of the hat and hang along the cheeks in the front strip of the corned hat.
